DAY THREE

Plant camp started this morning at 8:00 am with orientation and a history of Salt Lake City. Then we had a tour of the temple square and convention center. You can see in the photo below that temple is currently under construction due to a recent earthquake. We went into the tabernacle and were guided around by some tour guides. We were blessed with more liberty than usual when it came to asking the LDS missionaries some questions during the tour. The gaping holes in their responses led to a helpful discussion on ways to evangelize with people in the LDS church with one of the pastors at Gospel Grace. After lunch we headed up to Ensign Peak to look out over the whole city with Jon Kopp (another pastor at GGC). He briefly pointed out some landmarks from the lookout and noted how the city was laid out like a grid, with everything being in relation to the temple. The kids and I broke off from the group and got ice cream and went swimming for the majority of the afternoon, freeing up the youth staff to be with the team. In the afternoon, the students went back to GGC for an outreach orientation and then were sent out into the city to canvass and start up conversations with people about church and the gospel. After dinner they went back for a session, and then to wrap up the evening, went on a prayer walk. It was a full day and we are resting up for what the Lord has in store for us tomorrow!
